HOW TO CONFIGURE WINDSTREAM EMAIL SETTINGS FOR OUTLOOK?

Setting up a Windstream email in the desktop email clients like Outlook, Thunderbird, Mailbird, and Mac Mail is quite simple than you think. All you need is the incoming and outgoing mail server settings. If you wish to configure the Windstream email settings for Outlook 2016, go through the steps given below.

Windstream email settings for Outlook

IMAP:

Incoming mail server: imap.windstream.net

Incoming server port: 465

Encryption type: SSL

Username: Windstream email address

Password: Windstream email account password

SMTP:

Incoming mail server: smtp.windstream.net

Incoming server port: 587

Encryption type: TLS

Enabling the manual setup:

  1. On your Windows computer, open the Outlook app by double-clicking its shortcut icon on the desktop.
  2. In the Outlook main window, click the File tab.
  3. Select the Info option from the left-side panel.
  4. Below Account Information, click the Add Account button to open the Account Settings window.
  5. On the Auto Account Setup page, select the Manual setup or additional server types option and click Next.
  6. You can now configure your Windstream email settings in Outlook manually.

Configuring the server settings:

  1. Once you have enabled the manual setup, select the POP or IMAP option on the Choose Service screen.
  2. Click Next to go to the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen.
  3. Next, you have to input the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information.
  4. Under User Information, input your name in the Your Name field.
  5. Input your Windstream email address in the Email Address field.
  6. Under Server Information, choose IMAP as your account type.
  7. In the Incoming mail server field, enter ‘imap.windstream.net’ as your incoming mail server name.
  8. Type ‘smtp.windstream.net’ as your outgoing mail server name in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field.
  9. Under the Logon Information section, enter your email address and password in the User Name and Password fields.
  10. If necessary, select the Remember password checkbox.

Configuring the server port settings:

  1. On the POP and IMAP Account Settings page, you have configured the Windstream email settings for Outlook.
  2. To configure the advanced settings, click on More Settings. This will open the Internet Email Settings window.
  3. In the Outgoing Server tab, select the My outgoing server requires authentication checkbox.
  4. Enable the radio button for the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  5. Click the Advanced tab and enter 995 in the box next to Incoming mail server (IMAP).
  6. Next, tick the checkbox that says This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL).
  7. Input 587 in the box next to Outgoing server (SMTP).
  8. Select TLS as your encrypted connection type.
  9. Click OK –>Next –>Finish.

Now, you have configured the Windstream email settings for Outlook. To test the setup, send a test email from your account.
