INCOMING AND OUTGOING SERVER SETTINGS

Before setting up your Outlook account on Windows Live Mail, you need to know the incoming and outgoing server settings of the Outlook mail account. You can use the IMAP or POP server for the configuration.

Incoming server details (IMAP)

  1. Server address: imap-mail.outlook.com
  2. Port number: 993
  3. Encrypted connection: SSL
  4. Login User name: Your Outlook email address

Incoming server details (POP)

  1. Server address: pop-mail.outlook.com
  2. Port number: 995
  3. Encrypted connection: SSL
  4. Login User name: Your Outlook email address

Outgoing server details (SMTP)

  1. Server address: smtp-mail.outlook.com
  2. Port number: 587
  3. Encrypted connection: SSL

SETTING UP OUTLOOK IN WINDOWS LIVE MAIL

  1. First, launch Windows Live Mail on your computer.
  2. Next, select the Accounts tab at the top of the window.
  3. Click the Email tab from the top-left corner of the screen.
  4. Click The Email Tab
  5. The Add your email accounts dialog box will appear on the screen.
  6. Now, type your email address, password, and the display name for the sent messages into the respective fields.
  7. Make a tick mark on the Remember this password checkbox.
  8. Next, select the Manually configure server settings checkbox.
  9. Choose Next At The Bottom
  10. Choose Next at the bottom of the dialog box.
  11. Now, the Configure server settings dialog box will display on the screen.
  12. Next, click the Server type field and choose IMAP or POP from the drop-down list.
  13. Now, go and refer to the incoming and outgoing server settings on this page and complete the server configuration.

  15. After completing the server settings, click the Next button.
  16. At last, click Finish.
