TELSTRA BIGPOND MAIL SETTINGS

  2. Port: 465
  3. Security: SSL/TLS
  4. Username: Your complete Bigpond email address
  5. Password: Your Bigpond email account’s password

Start configuring your Bigpond email account on an email client

  1. Launch the Outlook application on your computer.
  2. Hit on the File tab and choose the Info option from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click the Account Settings option. In the Account Settings window, click the Email tab and click New.
  4. On the Add new mail account screen, select the radio button next to the Manually configure server settings or additional server types option.Click Next.
  5. In the Choose Service window, select Internet email and click Next.
  6. On the Internet Email Settings page, enter your user name and the server information in the appropriate fields.
  7. Under the User Informationsection, enter your complete name and Bigpond account’s password in the respective fields.
  8. In the Server Information section, choose the account type as IMAP according to your preference.
  9. Enter the incoming mail server as imap.telstra.com.
  10. Enter the outgoing mail server as smtp.telstra.com.
  11. Under the Logon Information section, enter your username and password in the respective fields.
  12. Click More Settings at the bottom-right corner. Then, go to the Outgoing Server tab. Check the boxes next to the My Outgoing Server (SMTP) needs authentication and Use the Same Settings as my incoming mail serveroptions.
  13. Go to the Advanced tab. Enter the incoming port number as 993 and the outgoing port number as 465.
  14. Enable SSL type of encryption for incoming and outgoing servers.
  15. Finally, click the OK button.
  16. Now, Outlook will test the credentials. Once the test gets completed, click Close.
