Outlook Setup

The Microsoft Outlook e-mail client lets you manage all your e-mail accounts in one place. Some cool functions available in Outlook are calendar, task manager, contact manages, note-taking, journal log, and web browsing. This web page will help you with the steps to set up the Outlook application.

  • First, based on your desire, download and install the Outlook application on your Windows or Mac computer.
  • Now, you can add one or more e-mail accounts in Outlook.

Outlook offers two different ways to add or set up an e-mail account.

  1. Automatic method
  2. Manual method

While performing the automatic method, you will be just prompted to enter your account’s name, e-mail address, and password. Once you enter these information, the Outlook application will automatically gather your account information and complete the setup process.

But in the Manual method, you will be asked to enter each and every information related to your account manually.The section below covers both the methods.

Automatic method (Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2010)

  1. Launch the Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2010 application on your computer.
  2. Click the File menu followed by the Add Account button.
  3. Now, a dialog box titled Add Account will open.
  4. Click the radio button beside the E-mail Account option.
  5. Enter the required information in the available text fields.
  6. Click the Next button after entering all the information.
  7. If prompted, enter your account password again.
  8. Click the OK button followed by Next.

Manual method (Outlook 2010)

  1. Open the Outlook 2010 application on your computer.
  2. Click File > Information > Add account.
  3. Select the option relating to the manual method on the Add New Account dialog box.
  4. Click the Next button.
  5. Choose the Internet E-mail option by clicking the radio button beside it.
  6. In the window titled Internet E-mail Settings, enter your e-mail accounts name, e-mail address, account type, incoming mail server, outgoing mail server, and account password in the corresponding text fields.
  7. After entering all the information, click the More Settings button.
  8. Go to the Outgoing Server section, enable the first two options by clicking the radio or checkbox beside them.
  9. Click the OK button.
  10. Now, navigate to the Advanced section.
  11. Enter your e-mail servers port numbers correctly.
  12. Make sure to select the security type correctly.
  13. Click the OK button followed by Next.
  14. Your e-mail account will be configured and ready to use in the Outlook application.


Auto-reply is an option that helps you to send an automated e-mail reply at the instance an e-mail is received to your Inbox. To enable or set up the Auto-reply option in Outlook, follow the instructions given below.

  • On your computer, open the Outlook application.
  • Click the File menu.
  • Select the Automatic Replies (Out of Office) option.
  • Now, a small dialog box will open at the right-hand side of the screen.
  • Click the radio button beside the Send automatic replies option.
  • Select the Only send during this time range option by clicking the checkbox beside it.
  • Choose the start time and end time option from the corresponding drop-down menu.
  • Enter your message in the given text field.
  • Finally, click the OK button.

  • On the Outlook 2016 application, click File > Add Account.
  • Now, a dialog box prompting you to enter your e-mail address will appear on the screen.
  • Enter the e-mail address in the corresponding text field.
  • Click the Connect button.
  • When prompted, enter your e-mail account’s password.
  • Click the OK button followed by Finish.


To set up the Outlook application on iPhone, follow the simple step-by-step instructions given below.

  1. First of all, install the Outlook for iOS application from the Apple App Store.
  2. Launch the app and tap the Add Account button if you are using the Outlook application for the first time.
  3. If not, tap Menu > Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.
  4. Select the manual option or use IMAP/POP based on your desire.
  5. When prompted, enter your e-mail account’s password.
  6. Click the Sign-in button.
  7. Perform the prompts displayed on the screen to accept the verification process and continue the process.
  8. Once you have completed the setup process, the Outlook application will be ready for use.
