Optimum.net is an easy-to-use webmail service that provides advanced speed, stability, and security for your email. In addition, it provides secure and reliable online protection to keep your private information safe. If you wish to configure your Optimum.net email in the desktop email clients or mobile phones, you need the IMAP and SMTP settings. For that, go through the server details given below.

Optimum.net IMAP settings:

  1. Incoming mail server name: mail.optimum.net
  2. Server port number: 993
  3. Authentication: Password
  4. Security type: SSL
  5. Username: Optimum.net email address
  6. Password: Optimum.net email account password

Optimum.net SMTP settings:

  1. Outgoing mail server name: mail.optimum.net
  2. Server port number: 465
  3. Authentication: Password
  4. Security type: SSL

Steps to configure the Optimum.net email settings in Outlook 2016:

  1. First, launch the Outlook app by double-clicking its shortcut icon on the desktop.
  2. Next, click the File tab and select the Info option from the left-side panel.
  3. Click the Add Account button below Account Information.
  4. On the Auto Account Setup screen, select the Manual setup or additional server types option and click Next to configure the Optimum.net IMAP settings manually.
  5. Choose the POP or IMAP option on the Choose Service screen and click Next.
  6. On the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen, complete filling the empty fields in the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information sections.
  7. Under User Information, give a name for your account in the Your Name field.
  8. Input your Optimum.net email address in the Email Address field.
  9. In the Server Information section, choose the IMAP option from the Account type drop-down menu.
  10. Type ‘mail.optimum.net’ in the Incoming mail server and Outgoing mail server fields.
  11. Under Logon Information, enter your email address and password.
  12. To open the Internet Email Settings window, click on More Settings.
  13. In the Outgoing Server tab, select the My outgoing mail server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox and enable the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.
  14. Jump to the Advanced tab without clicking OK.
  15. Enter the Optimum.net IMAP settings, such as server port numbers and security type in the required fields.
  16. Also, input the outgoing server details.
  17. Click OK and select Test Account Settings to verify the configured settings.
  18. Once the verification is complete, click Next and select Finish.
