Comcast Net Email Settings For Outlook 2010

When you add your Comcast email account in Outlook, it is important to configure the account with the correct incoming and the outgoing server settings. If you would like to know the Comcast.net email settings for Outlook 2010, continue to read the following sections.

POP, IMAP, and SMTP

POP and IMAP are the incoming mail servers that take control of the incoming emails. IMAP stores the emails on the server so that you can access the emails from multiple devices. In the POP server, the emails get stored on the devices; thus, you cannot access the emails from multiple devices. You can choose one of the email servers according to your requirements. SMTP is an outgoing email server, and it is standard for both POP and IMAP servers.

  1. On your computer, launch the Outlook 2010 application.
  2. Click the File menu, choose the Account Settings option, and click New.
  3. In the Add New Account window, choose Email Account and click on the Next button. Then, select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types option and click on the Next button.
  4. Then, Choose Internet Email and click on the Next button.
  5. On the POP and IMAP Account settings screen, enter your name and Comcast email address in the respective fields in the User Information segment.
  6. In the Server Information section, choose your preferred Account Type as IMAP or POP. If you have selected the IMAP option, enter the incoming mail server as imap.comcast.net and for POP account type, enter the pop3.comcast.net. As SMTP is common for IMAP and POP, enter the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) ass smtp.comcast.net for both account types. Then, move on to the Logon Information section, and type the user name and the password of your Comcast email account in the respective fields.
  7. When you have entered the credentials, click on the More Settings button.
  8. In the Internet Email Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab and select the box next to the options that read My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
  9. Then, navigate to the Advanced tab and enter the following credentials. For the IMAP and POP account types, enter the server port as 993 and 995, respectively. For both incoming servers, choose the encryption type as SSL. Then, enter the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number as 587, select the encryption type as TLS, and click on the OK button.
  10. It will take you back to the POP and IMAP Account Settings window; there, click on the Next button.
  11. Outlook will perform a test, and once the given information is verified, the tests will be completed.
