Initially, get to know about the Bigpond email server settings to access the Bigpond email account from your desktop email programs such as Outlook or Thunderbird.


Incoming mail server (IMAP)

  3. Username – full email address

Outgoing mail server (SMTP)

  1. Port – 465
  2. Security – SSL
  3. Username – full email address
  4. Password – Bigpond email address
  5. Outgoing mail server –

Just enter the above server settings detail on the Outlook application during the configuration process.

Configuring Bigpond email on the Outlook application

  • Launch the Outlook application.
  • Navigate to the File tab and then continue to click the plus symbol next to the Add account option.
  • In the Add account window, select the Manual setup option.
  • Choose your preferred account type, such as POP or IMAP.
  • Continue to enter the details in the POP or IMAP Account Settings window.
  • You’ll see three sections in that window: User Information, Logon Information, and Server Information.
  • Enter the required details and cross-check them.
  • Click the More Settings tab at the bottom of the window. Type the server port numbers and enable the necessary checkboxes. Return to the Account Settings tab and then click Next.
  • Now, the Outlook application starts to examine all the details you’ve entered. Later, you’ll see a successful message on the Test Account Settings window.
