ATT.NET EMAIL IMAP SERVER SETTINGS

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol. This protocol is designed to download a copy of the email from the mail server to your email client. The IMAP server settings for the ATT.NET email are given below.

  1. Incoming mail server: imap.mail.att.net
  2. Server port number: 993
  3. Security type: SSL
  4. Username: email address
  5. Password: email account password

ATT.NET EMAIL SMTP SERVER SETTINGS

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. This outgoing protocol is designed to send emails from email clients to the mail server for forwarding. The SMTP server settings for ATT.NET are as follows.

  1. Incoming mail server: smtp.mail.att.net
  2. Server port number: 465
  3. Security type: SSL

ATT.NET EMAIL POP3 SERVER SETTINGS

POP3 is the recent version of POP and it stands for Post Office Protocol version 3. It is an incoming mail server protocol that receives emails from the mail server to your email client. Unlike IMAP, the POP protocol doesn’t copy the email from the mail server. Instead, it directly downloads the emails from the mail server. Below are the POP3 server settings for the ATT.NET email.

  1. Incoming mail server: inbound.att.net
  2. Server port number: 995
  3. Security type: SSL
  4. Username: email address
  5. Password: email account password

Steps to configure ATT.NET email settings in Outlook 2016:

  1. First, launch the Outlook app by double-clicking its shortcut icon on the desktop.
  2. In the Outlook main window, click the File tab at the top-left corner.
  3. Select the Info option from the left-side panel.
  4. Click the Add Account button below Account Information.
  5. Next, enable the radio button Manual setup or additional server types.
  6. On the Choose Service screen, select the POP or IMAP option and click Next.
  7. Fill the necessary details in the User Information, Server Information, and Logon Information sections.
  8. Under User Information, give a name for your email account and enter your email address.
  9. In the Server Information section, choose either POP3 or IMAP as your account type from the drop-down menu.
  10. Input the incoming and outgoing mail server names.
  11. Below Logon Information, enter your ATT.NET email address and password in the required fields.
  12. Click More Settings to open the Internet Email Settings window.
  13. Under the Outgoing Server tab, select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
  14. Make sure to enable the Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio button.
  15. Jump to the Advanced tab and enter the incoming and outgoing mail server port numbers in the required fields.
  16. Remember to select the SSL option as your security type from both the drop-down menus.
  17. Click OK and then select Test Account Settings to verify the configured ATT.NET email settings.
  18. Once the verification is complete, click Next and select Finish.
