AOL Email Not Working In Outlook

Is your AOL email not working in Outlook frequently? Then there might be a misconfiguration with the server settings. Check your server settings and update your password. To know how to resolve the AOL email problem on your Outlook, follow these steps.

  • On your computer, launch Microsoft Outlook by double-clicking the Outlook icon on the desktop.
  • In the Outlook main window, click the File menu available at the top-left corner.
  • Select Account Settings twice and choose your AOL account from the displayed list.
  • Click the Change icon in the middle of the screen.
  • You will be directed to the POP and IMAP Account Settings
  • Check the Server Information, User Information, and Logon information sections to verify the configured server settings.
  • If you have recently updated your AOL email account’s password, input the new password in the Password  field beneath Login Information.
  • Make sure that you have entered the correct incoming and outgoing mail server names in the Server Information
  • Click the More Settings tab at the bottom-right corner of the POP and IMAP Account Settings
  • In the Internet Email Settings window, click the Outgoing Server tab and ensure that the My outgoing server (SMTP requires authentication check box is selected.
  • If you have not yet selected the checkbox, enable it first.
  • Move to the Advanced tab and verify that you have entered the correct port in the Incoming server (IMAP) or Incoming server (POP)
  • If you have selected IMAP as your account type, you have to enter 993 in the Port
  • For a POP account, enter 995 in the Port
  • Do not select None in both the Use the following type of encrypted connection drop-down menus.
  • Also, check if the Outgoing server (SMTP) port is 465 or 587.
  • If all the settings are correct, click OK and restart Outlook.
  • Try sending a test email from your AOL email account and check if the problem has been resolved.
